COVID-19 Emergency Declaration Extended

The original end date for the Expanded Emergency Declaration that was put out by the FMCSA was May 15, 2020. Due to the enduring havoc of the Coronavirus, the emergency declaration has been given an extended end date of June 14, 2020.

This new extension is taking the declaration from a fluke that lasted a few weeks to what could be the "new normal." The question is, "Could this prove that the trucking industry could safely operate under a new final rule that gives truckers greater freedom over their schedule?" Only time can tell.

This extension was announced May 13, 2020.
